Tips For Beautiful Eyes

I guess the opening line should no doubt be the general cliched "the eyes are the window to the soul", yet I find myself asking the next question, "If this is true, then how do I look?" What makes those eyes so white? What gives that sparkle in the models eye? We all know presentation is the key, and how one's make up is presented in a photograph, business meetings, social gatherings and the likes, can make the world of difference. On the one hand it is easy enough to say "looks aren't everything" but on the other hand we all know what people are really like when it comes to the way we look. Our eyes can make or break the conversation, they let people know what we are trying to say, whether we are talking or not. Today we give you some tips on keeping eyes looking beautiful no matter the situation, so you will always be ready to take on the world with your gorgeous glance!

Let us take you through a few different sections on making your eyes stand out from the crowd, show off your beauty and take them by storm. We will show you a few of the latest trends in eye make up, along with some tips, of course ;)

Caring for your eyes

The first thing you need to think about is caring for your eyes. Healthy eyes are noticed from a mile away, beautifully white with a splash of colour and the make up done just right. Here are a few tips to get you started on the road to healthier eyes:

1. Rest, rest rest!

Your eyes need rest, even when you may not think so. Your eyes need a bit of relaxation everyday to get them looking great with little effort and a short amount of time which you might even find relaxing yourself!

- take 2 slices of cucumber with a pinch of salt on each (not the eye side!)

- grate a small amount of potato (about a pinch or so per eye should do)

Place the salt and potato onto the cucumber and place it with the the other side facing down onto your eyes being careful not to let any salt fall off the top of the cucumber (this is why you only need a small amount) and then keeps these on your eyes for about 15 to 20 minutes. Doing this regularly ensures healthier eyes, keep them feeling fresh and looking great!

In addition to the cucumber and potato, use cotton wool dipped in rooibos tea and rest that on your eyes for at least 20 minutes or so while relaxing. This can help to increase the whiteness of your eyes.

2. Remove those rings!

Dark rings around your eyes are never nice, and can be caused by a number of things including lack of sleep and watching television or computer screens for too long. Over stressing your eyes is a common factor and is hardly unavoidable in this age where we are fed millions of bits of information each day, all the while our eyes are trying to take it all in.

- get yourself some coconut oil and rub it around your eyes for at least 5 minutes a day

- in addition to the coconut oil, use some cotton wool dabbed in some cold milk and allow it to sit on the dark areas for about 15 minutes a day
Removing dark rings around your eyes can take a while so be patient and you will see results. Be sure to get plenty of sleep when you need it as well!
3. Nutrition! Most important for eyesight

Make sure you get a lot of Vitamin A and C. The other two important ones are Carotenoids and Bioflavonoids. Now don't get too stressed, these can be found in a number of different foods available:

Vitamin A - milk, eggs, beans, lentils, avocado

Vitamin C - Oranges, orange juice, strawberries, red and green bell peppers, tomato

Carotenoids - spinach, leaf lettuce, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, watermelon, squash

Bioflavonoids - Berries, grapes, apples, oranges, grapefruit, yellow onions, soy foods

Make sure that you eat some of these foods every day to ensure your eyes are healthy.

Latest Eye Trends

At the moment, there are a few hot trends that we thought we should blog about. From natural, autumn colours, to vibrant splashes of peacock colours and sophistication all the way.

First of all you need to get yourself some

- liquid liner
- coloured mascara

The coloured mascara is a big hit right now and the best one we have found and would recommend is Black Sapphire by Rimmel London and can be bought in most make up shops. If we find a way to buy online, we will post a link here.

2011 Emerging Fashion Trends

According to experts, the 2010 Fashion Trends will undoubtedly rise the standards as the world slowly emerges from it's long winded financial crisis. Colourfully inspired by classic natural styles, yet with a sexy skin and all natural make up look are the things to wear in 2010. In this post we'll take you through some of the latest trends in mens and ladies fashion.

Ethnic and tribal prints are on the horizon so you should look out for those natural yet rich colour palettes. Reds, burnt oranges, browns, greens, golds and jades. Subjects include being positive, nature, colour, light as well as the union of these things. Pastel colours mixed with vibrancy brought together by emotions and senses. Texture meets colour this season and colour is used to enhance or accentuate texture. Movement is the key, flow is everything. :) Share

This Vuvuzela has style! - 2010 Creative Things

I did a search on 2010 trends the other day through the 'South African sites only' section of Google and, as the internet never fails to send us digressing a plethora of different subjects, i was taken in once again... As I browsed through different things on offer on various websites, I happened to come across this rather interesting take on the already famous Vuvuzela. It can be bought off Pro Soccer and doesn't cost too much either. South Africans always seem show that natural creative flare by coming up with new ideas just that little bit more creative every time. This one has a truly South African horn shape and gives an even more African touch to the contemporary.

This guy has a rather interesting setup going on, he has made a supporter cap out of a construction hardhat! Now that is what we call being creative, not to mention those glasses! eh! He is getting into the spirit of things and welcoming the world in these celebrations. We truly are a unique country and I love every bit of it. Everywhere you go you will find people creating, starting new ideas and coming up with entirely fresh concepts!

This is the official ladies soccer jersey and can be bought on a number of different sites and plenty of shops countrywide. These can be seen worn by people everywhere, particularly on what we South Africans now term 'Football Fridays'. Very stylish to say the least! We have read that this design was inspired by South African diversity and incorporates 11 threads to symbolize it. Yellow is a South African colour. A lot of thought went into this jersey and you can be sure you are wearing more than just a jersey, but a multicultural mix of inspiration, design and concept. I believe that we are a very creative country and these are just a few examples of how we show it.
